Hope Academy Makes IHSA State Wrestling A Family Affair

In 2016, history was made at the IHSA Individual Wrestling State Finals when Washington High School’s Punke brothers, all four of them, qualified for the state final tournament.

Chicago’s Hope Academy high school takes the family participation award at the 2017 state meet thanks to the Willis family.

Hope Academy head coach Dan Willis is joined at the 2017 state meet by three of his sons, as well as a nephew, who will all be competing. His senior son just missed qualifying for the Class 1A field, which would have tied the Punke’s mark.
