Romeoville High School girls soccer players Olivia De La Rosa and Betsy Ramirez were surprised with Dell laptops for “Making A Difference On and Off The Field” earlier this June.

Betsy, a senior, takes care of children during service at her local church and also volunteers at multiple marathon events throughout the year. Olivia, a junior, volunteers at Feed My Starving Children and at a local restaurant during the holidays. She helps with donated food being delivered to those in need.

"Honors and moments like this truly highlights the character our program has," Romeoville girls soccer coach Phil Wicyk said.

The Dell laptops were presented by Buddy’s HELPERS, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit uniting Chicago-area high school student-athletes and teachers/coaches in an annual community service campaign built around “Making A Difference On AND Off The Field.”

The campaign engages hundreds of high schools and thousands of Chicago-area students through the PepsiCo Showdown - the largest high school soccer tournament in the U.S. In 2016, there are 216 high schools and more than 21,500 student-athletes a part of the overall program.
