Providence's Tom Kelley With Sportscenter Top 10 Throw In IHSA State Championship Baseball Game

The Providence Catholic baseball team became the first program in IHSA history to win three consecutive state titles in 2016, and senior rightfielder Tom Kelley put the exclamation point on the victory with a throw that would be ranked as the No. 3 play on Sportscenter's Top 10.

With Providence leading 10-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Mundelein's leadoff hitter walked and a pinch-runner advance into scoring position on a wild pitch. Mustang shortstop Jake Breitenreiter then lifted a pitch near the warning track in rightfield that Kelley parked under and caught (above left). The runner on second base appeared to have an easy tag-up situation to advance to third base, but Kelley uncorked an amazing dart of a throw to Celtic third basemen Zach Pych who tagged the runner out (above right) for the doubleplay. Two batters later, Providence recorded the third out to clinch its third straight state championship.

Below is the NFHS Network broadcast of the play, as well as the ESPN Sportscenter Top 10 clip:
