Shaunda Brown became the 34th individual to serve the IHSA as an Assistant Executive Director when she was named to the position by the IHSA Board of Directors in June, 2014.

A 1996 graduate of Du Quoin High School, Brown participated in cheerleading and track & field during her high school career. She was on the sidelines as a cheerleader when the Du Quoin football team played for the state championship three times between 1992-1995, while also winning five state medals during her track career, including a third-place finish in 200-meter dash as a senior.

Brown continued her cheerleading career while earning a degree in Communication Disorders & Sciences at Southern Illinois University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1999. She also went on to complete a pair of Master’s Degrees in Communication Sciences & Disorders and School Administration from St. Louis University and Lindenwood University, respectively.

Brown worked as a Clinic Director and Speech Language Pathologist at Pediatric Potentials in Chicago from 2002 to 2006. She then joined the staff at the Special School District of St. Louis County in Town and Country, Missouri as a Speech Language Pathologist in 2007, a position she held until joining the IHSA.

Brown has been an IHSA Cheerleading official, clinician and rule interpreter since the program’s inception in 2005-06. She has also worked for the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) since 1996, facilitating the UCA’s annual summer camps.

Brown resides in Bloomington.
