The NFHS Network, the nation’s leading high school sports media company, hosted the inaugural NFHS Network Broadcast Academy in Atlanta, Georgia on July 17-18, 2015. The event culminated with an awards ceremony that recognized the top high school broadcasts, broadcast programs and broadcasters from around the country.

The winner of the Best Student Broadcaster Award was Highland Park High School’s Sam Brief. Sam reflected on his award saying:

"To me, the award means a culmination of hours on end of hard work. I started doing broadcasting sophomore year and spent many late nights and long days working on my craft, so for it to pay off in a way with this award is incredible. It also means a recognition of a team effort. While I was the face, nothing I achieved in high school would have been possible with out my teachers and mentors, cameramen and fellow broadcasters."

Sam graduated from Highland Park in the spring and is now enrolled in Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media, and Integrated Marketing Communications.
