Legendary St. Francis Volleyball Coach Peg Kopec Goes Out On Top

Peg Kopec (above right watching her team celebrate) closed out her legendary career as the girls' volleyball coach at St. Francis High School in Wheaton on Saturday, November 15, 2015 at the IHSA State Finals at Redbird Arena.

Kopec led the Spartans to a fourth consecutive state championship that night, becoming the first girls' volleyball team in state history to accomplish that feat. In addition, Kopec and St. Francis also became the first program to win state titles in four different classes, as the Class 4A crown accompanied previous titles in Class A, Class AA and Class 3A.

Kopec finished her career with 12 state championships and over 1,200 wins, more than any other coach in any IHSA sport. She broke the news of her retirement to her team following the match and was recognized on the awards stand by the IHSA for her incredible career prior to being draped (see video below) for the final time:
