Since the IHSA began endorsing pink-themed Volley For The Cure volleyball matches for member schools in 2008 to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research, IHSA girls’ volleyball teams have raised over $1.5 million dollars for Susan G. Komen For The Cure. While the total donations for 2015 are still being tallied, Susan G. Komen reports that the total is already at $61,933 thanks in part to programs like Pekin High School (pictured above), coached by Yvonne Thompson, who raised $15,010 dollars for Susan G. Komen For The Cure with their event this season.
