Hall of Fame football coach and long-time Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights) Athletic Director Dave Mattio passed away on September 7, 2016. The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) would like to express its condolences to the family, friends, former players and Marian Catholic community as a whole on their loss. Dave guided the Spartans to the IHSA Class 4A football state title in 1993 (pictured above) and a runner-up finish in Class 5A in 1999.
