The Illinois High School Association (IHSA), in conjunction with its broadcast partner When We Were Young Productions, has announced its television network coverage for the 2010-11 school year. For the first-time ever, all of the events broadcast on TV will also be available live on the internet via IHSA.TV.

The IHSA TV Network currently consists of seven over-the-air stations throughout the state, including WPWR (Chicago), WTVO (Rockford), KGCW (Quad Cities/Burlington, Iowa), WAOE (Peoria), WCFN (Springfield/Champaign/Decatur) and WFIE (Evansville, Indiana). In addition, several cable outlets will also carry the IHSA TV Network, as will the internet broadband portal IHSA.TV.

The IHSA TV Network will carry the IHSA Football Playoff Pairing Release Show (October 23) and 40 total contests during the 2010-11 school year, including the Football State Finals (November 26-27), the Girls Basketball State Finals (February 25-26, March 4-5) and the Boys Basketball State Finals (March 11-12, March 18-19).

In Chicagoland, Comcast 100 (CN-100) will once again carry the IHSA Football Playoff Pairing Show on Saturday, October 23, while the remaining IHSA TV Network events will air on WPWR in Chicagoland.

“With the combination of over-the-air broadcasts, cable, and Internet streaming, live coverage of IHSA state final events now reaches more viewers than ever before,” said IHSA Assistant Executive Director Matt Troha. “Building a television network to cover a state as large and diverse as Illinois is an intricate task to say the least. We are always working to add more coverage, but we are also excited that those without television coverage will be able to view the events on IHSA.TV live or on-demand.”

The IHSA is still seeking carriers for its television events this year. Local channels or cable channels interested in carrying the IHSA TV Network should contact Doug Brown (dbrown@wwwyproductions.com).

NOTE:

Sport state finals not included in the IHSA TV Network schedule will also be Webcast on IHSA.TV.

Most will be streamed live. Some, such as golf or cross country, will be edited into highlight shows and posted on
