Saturday's State Final Golf Will Use Shotgun Start

Due to the possibility of rain and severe storms tomorrow (Saturday) in Bloomington-Normal and Decatur, the IHSA has decided, in an effort to allow this year’s golf state finals to be conducted over 36 holes, to use a shotgun start for the second round.

BOYS GOLF

Play is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. at each of the boys’ state finals venues.  The groups will be assigned a starting hole at each venue based on their original tee time for Saturday.  The starting hole for each group will be posted on the list of second-round tee times (posted after the end of the first-round play): Class 1A, Class 2A, Class 3A.

The tentative schedule at each course shall be as follows:

  • 7:45 a.m. – 8:15 a.m.       Range open to competitors originally scheduled to tee off the 1st hole Saturday
  • 8:15 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.       Range open to competitors originally scheduled to tee off the 10th hole Saturday
  • 8:45 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.       Final day instructions to competitors/report to starting location
  • 9:00 a.m. (tentative)       Second round of state finals begins

GIRLS GOLF

Play is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. at both of the girls’ state finals venues.  The groups will be assigned a starting hole at each venue based on their original tee time for Saturday.  The starting hole for each group will be posted on the list of second-round tee times (posted after the end of the first-round play): Class A, Class AA.

The tentative schedule at each course shall be as follows:

  • 7:00 a.m. – 7:45 a.m.       Range open to competitors who teed off the 1st hole Friday
  • 7:45 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.       Range open to competitors who teed off the 10th hole Friday
  • 8:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.       Final day instructions to competitors/all players report to starter's table
  • 9:00 a.m. (tentative)       Second round of state finals begins
