Batavia's Dennis Piron Talks Student-Athlete Safety

Dennis Piron, a teacher and coach at Batavia High School, who is also an inaugural member of the Illinois Advisory Council on Player Safety recently talked about a variety of topics related to the Play Smart. Play Hard. campaign for a story on the school website. Piron talks high school football, preparation at the youth level (both tackle and flag), as well as student-athlete preparation.

"The choice to play flag or tackle football is a decision that has to be made by the parents," said Piron in the story. "To me, the most important factors are that a football program is fun, safe, and well organized. The majority of our Batavia High School football players began tackle football in 7th grade."
