 The 2015 IHSA Class 2A & Class 3A Girls Soccer State Finals return to Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on the campus of North Central College in Naperville on Friday and Saturday, June 5-6.
All eight matches this weekend will be broadcast live by the NFHS Network on www.IHSA.tv and rebroadcast on Comcast SportsNet Chicago (see right sidebar for dates).

CLASS 2A
Matt Blackford’s first turn (2000-2008) as the Peoria Notre Dame (18-4-4) head coach produced five state final berths and a fourth-place finish in 2003. In his second year since returning, Blackford has the Irish back in the state finals after navigating a difficult schedule that included a loss to Class 1A state champ Rochester and a 1-1 tie with semifinal opponent Glenwood back in early April.

Goaltending: Jenna Ashley (17 goals allowed in 24 games)
Defense: 15 shutouts
Glenwood (17-4-3) reaching the state finals is seemingly a rite of spring under Jay Lipe, as the Titans have reached the final weekend of the season in four straight seasons and eight times under Lipe since 2001, including a state title in 2013 and placing third last year. Both Glenwood goaltenders, and its top scorer Kelly Graves, return from last year’s squad.

Assists: 17, Maddie Klintworth
Goaltending: Mara Cunningham & Morgan Lauher (both have 10 goals allowed in 22 games)
Defense: 12 shutouts
Carmel (19-3-1) will bring home its first girls’ soccer state final trophy in school history in the program’s second (2008) state final trip, both of which have come under head coach John Halloran. The Corsairs closed the regular-season with back-to-back losses, but have yet to allow a postseason goal, defeating their five opponents by a combined score of 25-0.

Goaltending: Christina O’Block (8 goals allowed in 20 games)
Defense: 14 shutouts
There is nothing odd about Lemont (18-4-3) qualifying for the state finals in each of the past four odd years (2009, 2011, 2013, 2015), but there is one thing missing. The Indians have placed second, third and fourth in its three previous trips, and Rick Prangen’s group hopes to leave with state championship hardware in 2015. The Indians have allowed just one goal in five State Series games this postseason.

Goaltending: Michelle Jerantowski (15 goals allowed in 25 games)
Defense: 18 shutouts
CLASS 3A
Neuqua Valley (18-3-2) has not reached the state finals since its state championship season in 2005, but head coach Joe Moreau has plenty of state final experience. Moreau guided St. Charles East to five consecutive state championships from 1996-2000 and now hopes to hoist his first crown at Neuqa Valley in his 10th year at the helm.

Assists: 11, Jamie Goralski
Goaltending: Hannah Parrish (12 goals allowed in 23 games)
Defense: 13 shutouts
Collinsville (21-3-1) makes its seventh state final appearance in school history and first since 2002 behind a balanced offense that features a trio of double-digit goal scorers. The Kahoks will leave with their second trophy (4th in 1988) in school history this weekend, which also marks their first appearance under fifth-year head coach Clay Smith.

Goaltending: Morgan Lerch (9 goals allowed in 20 games) & Julie Scheiter (3 goals allowed in 19 games)
Defense: 16 shutouts
The Barrington (21-1-4) soccer program’s first state title has been elusive, as the Fillies have a second-place finish (2006) and two third-place trophies (2000, 2013) in five previous state final trips. The back of net has been anything but elusive for senior Jenna Szczesny, who hopes to bring Ryan Stengren’s program its first state title while adding to her 37 goal total this weekend.

Goaltending: Hannah Luedtke (6 goals allowed in 18 games)
Defense: 16 shutouts
One of the most successful programs in state history, defending Class 3A state champion New Trier (25-1-1) and head coach Jim Burnside are vying for the program’s fifth state title in Naperville this weekend, all of which have come since 2003. The Trevians started the 2015 season 17-0 and have outscored their five State Series foes by a margin of 23-0.
