School Classifications (Fall) — 2023-24 & 2024-25

Explanation

This chart indicates the classifications for schools likely to participate in fall sports and activities during the two-year classification cycle that starts in 2023-24. Included on the chart are all programs that entered IHSA tournaments during the fall season of the 2022-23 school term.

Football is not included on this chart, since those classifications are only determined at the end of the regular season.

Schools have the option of "playing up" in any sport or activity by notifying the IHSA Office before September 1 of the first year of the two-year classification cycle.

Key

 Yellow  -- This school hosted a coop program, and the classification is based on the combined enrollments of the schools involved. The classification shown here may change if the coop is dissolved or altered. Hosting a coop does not necessarily result in a higher classification.

 Red  -- This program is subject to the 1.65 multiplier, which does not necessarily result in a higher classification.

 Blue  -- This program is subject to the "success factor" and has been assigned to this class.

 Green  -- This program has chosen to "play up" to this class.

CCB -- boys cross country; CCG -- girls cross country; GOB -- boys golf; GOG -- girls golf; SOB -- boys soccer; TNG -- girls tennis; VBG -- girls volleyball.

The "Enrollment" column includes the adjustment for single-sex schools but not the enrollment of any other teams involved in a coop. The number in parentheses includes the 1.65 multiplier to be used when applicable.
