Projected School Classifications (Winter) — 2019-20 & 2020-21

Explanation

This chart indicates the classifications for schools likely to participate in winter sports and activities during the two-year classification cycle that starts in 2019-20. Included on the chart are all programs that entered IHSA tournaments during the winter season of the 2018-19 school term.

Schools have the option of "playing up" in any sport or activity by notifying the IHSA Office before September 1 of the first year of the two-year classification cycle.

Key

 Yellow  -- This school hosted a coop program, and the classification is based on the combined enrollments of the schools involved. The classification shown here may change if the coop is dissolved or altered. Hosting a coop does not necessarily result in a higher classification.

 Red  -- This program is subject to the 1.65 multiplier, which does not necessarily result in a higher classification.

 Blue  -- This program is subject to the "success factor" and has been assigned to this class.

 Green  -- This program has chosen to "play up" to this class.

BKB -- boys basketball; BKG -- girls basketball, CHC -- competitive cheerleading; DAC -- competitive dance; SCB -- Scholastic Bowl; WR -- boys wrestling.

The "Enrollment" column includes the adjustment for single-sex schools but not the enrollment of any other teams involved in a coop. The number in parentheses includes the 1.65 multiplier to be used when applicable.
