Bass Fishing Sectional at Lake Holiday — 2013-14

Manager's Comment: The Lake Holiday Sectional in Sandwich, IL saw 18 boats from 10 schools take the water on a 45 degree sunny morning. The high temp for the day was 70 degrees. And the water was running around 60 degrees. Light winds from the southeast kept chop on the water but no problem for any boaters. Out of 18 boats 11 brought fish to the scales and most others reported catching some short fish. Big Bass for the tournament was caught by Plainfield Central Soph Kyle Almanza on boat #2 with a 3.83 pound largemouth on a Shad Rap late in the day. Everyone in his boat was awarded a blue ribbon medal for big bass. Sectional champions were Sandwich boat #2 with 3 fish for 6.96 pounds. Kevin Clancy was the boater for Michael Dobbs, TJ Ostreko and Hunter Calvert. They were awarded a team plaque as Sectional Champs and blue ribbon medals. Second place finishers were Sandwich boat #1 with 5 fish for 5.93 pounds. Doug Anderson drove for Austin Hellyer, TJ Powell and Kevin Huhn. They were awarded red ribbon medals. Third place finishers were Naperville Central boat #1 with 4 fish for 5.07 pounds. Tim Benson drove for Kit Benson and Chapman Curtis who were awarded white ribbon medals. And fourth place finishers were Oswego High School boat #1 with 2 fish for 4.69 pounds. They were awarded yellow ribbon medals. Sandwich boat #2, Sandwich boat #1, and Naperville Central boat #1 all qualified everyone on their boat for the IHSA State Tourney in Carlyle in May.
