QUOTES AND NOTES

Winning coach: Conte Stamas, LaGrange (Lyons Twp)-``At least it wasn't overtime again. We go two overtimes in two previous games and this one by four to advance to the next round. Our kids really thrive on these type of games. They show a lot of mental toughness and when the games are close we have a lot of confidence going into the last couple of minutes."

"We did a great job pressuring them defensively tonight but I felt we did a better job in the second half on the backboard. In the first half we didn't do such a good job on the offensive glass but we got that straightened out at halftime. We did a much better job in the second half and I think we were a lot more patient offensively and I think we got some better looks. In the first half we were playing a little too fast and just putting up shots. In the second half we showed better poise in our shot selection."

"We really didn't want to get beat on the last second shot which is why we went to the man to man in the last few seconds. We were up two after we made the two free throws and that's when we changed to the man to man. He (Chris Hickey) did shoot the three but Cortez (Forte) did a great job of contesting it. We did a good job of boxing out and it brought it down to one possession."

"We got the defensive stop and the defensive rebound to win the game."

"We just want to keep advancing and it really doesn't matter who we play or where we play. At this point its just advance and survive. There's great basketball and great coaches all over the state and Moline is one of them. From what we saw on film they like to control the tempo and what we wanted to do was to be the aggressor and us control the tempo, not them."

Losing coach: Frank Dexter, Moline - ``I'd like to say that I couldn't be any more proud of this group of kids that I have this group of seniors especially. Chris (Hickey) and Ryan (Scannell) and Travis Hoyt- I've had them for three years. Our goal was to get to state and we achieved their goal."

"I said to them after the game in the locker room I felt they put themselves in position to win the game and as a basketball coach in a game like this it's all you can ask. Felt we had a chance to win and were going to win. But we had a breakdown in the communication late or else we'd have got a good shot. Ryan had hit a big three to tie it, it was a great effort."

"They're very patient and we showed good patients but two teams were really going at it. Very, very physical under the glass."

"We handled their physicalness with some quickness under the basket. I though Justin Ward had an exceptional game for us, especially early and got us back in the game."

(From Chris Hickey who took the last shot and had it blocked) "We were looking for a shot for Ryan (Scannell) but miscommunication and he popped back out and I gave him a pass for a three but he was guarded pretty well so I got the ball back from Ryan and if I could've got it up a couple more inches I'd have got the shot over him (Cortez Forte)."
