Winning coach, Doug Sutor, Orland Park (Sandburg): "I�m aweful proud of our young men. This is the farthest a Sandburg baseball team has ever gone in the state finals. We�ve overcome adversity to get here. We�re on a roll, winning 15 of our last 17 and we�ve got a little bit of a swagger going on."
�Glenbard is a team of great character. They�re kids battled hard and I didn�t think I could relax until we got the final out.�
�I think playing the caliber of the teams in our conference helps toughen you up. We�re a different club now than we were when we got beat by (Tinley Park) Andrew. It will a great thing for our conference and for our school district to play Andrew in the semifinals.�
Losing coach, Jim Forniciari, Glen Ellyn (Glenbard West): "We�re disappointed of course. We wanted to win and we expected to win but we just didn�t play well early in the game. When they went to the short game we just couldn�t get the out. The rain delays this week didn�t make a difference. We were ready to play; we just didn�t play well. You have to play defense every day and you have to pitch. They made all the routine plays and that makes a difference."
�Our seniors were real leaders and they underastand our expectation of working hard. They are a big part of the reason we had the season we had.�
