 Notes & Quotes
Winning coach: Joel Jonas, Chicago (Marist) - ``First of al, I would have never thought this would happen. I know what Jeff (Szukala) is feeling right now. I've been in that situation before but he will bounce back. He has a lot of character .''

``We haven't been hitting the ball well lately and I thought we were really tight at the start of the game. The first error when we scored kind of loosen us up and then we hit the ball well.''

``We wanted to get as many kids in the game as possible because you don't when it will be your last. I think we got most of the kids in. It is the state tournament and it's good for the kids to get that experience.'

Marist starting pitcher Nick Karko - ``When everyone's behind you it gets you pumped up. We started to hit the ball and it seemed like things just went our way.''

``I been in a game like this before so I wasn't surprised when coach took me out. (Karko threw only 21pitches.) I can't wait to throw again in the championship game.''

``I wasn't nervous. I just wanted to give it my best. We wanted to play Saturday and now we can.''

Losing coach: Jeff Szukala, Chicago (Lane Tech) - ``It's tough to lose like this. Some of the early errors really hurt us. We thought we had our team really well prepared, but it didn't work out that way. Nothing went well. It just wasn't our day. We didn't play the game well, and when you don't play well, you can't win out here. We appreciate the hospitality of the town of Geneva and the tournament, and we hope to be back next year.
