``Our kids came out swinging but we are a good hitting team. I thought we hit the ball hard and very well. I think all our guys had at least one hit. Up and down the lineup everybody hit the ball well. Chad (Turrell) played well coming back from the hamstring.''

Losing coach: Kent Stevens, Mount Vernon - ``I thought the first inning was the key to the ballgame. They right up and put a two-spot on us. I had seen their stats and thought maybe they hadn't played much competition. But I was wrong, they can hit. They came out in the sixth and tattooed it and put the nail in our coffin.''

``Their pitcher did a good job of keeping us off balance. When we hit some balls hard their outfielders ran them down. They hit the ball hard and we couldn't get to them.''
