 Notes & Quotes
NOTES AND QUOTES

Winning coach, Mike Napoleon of New Trier: "Joliet Catholic never gives up. I know that from my time Providence. They are building a great tradition over there. And we knew we couldn’t afford not to respect them.”

“Now people can see what (Peter) Elmer can do. H’s pretty dang good, and he’s coming back next year.”

“(Eric) Willson came in in a tough situation and went right after them. He has a heart to big toi be measured.”

“We’ve been playing good, fundamental baseball all year. We know that if we play good things happen."

Losing coach, Jared Voss of Joliet Catholic Academy: "We wanted to make them earn and I feel we did that in this one. These kids haven’t given up all season because that’s the way they play. We left it all on the field."

“Steve (Nielsen) came out and gave us all he had. We didn’t help him with the errors but he kept battling and did a great job. It’s the kind of kids we have at Joliet Catholic. They are great kids who are tough competitors. This is a tribute (finishing second in the tournament) to our kids, especially our seniors. They have been our leaders for four years.”

“You have to credit New Trier. They are a fine ball club. They hit the ball well and did the things it takes to be a state champion. We made them earn and that’s all I can ask of our kids.”

“We started out the tournament as a fourth seed in the regional and have had to battle our way to get here. I can’t say enough about these kids and how extremely proud of them I ma right now.”
