Bass Fishing Update: April 13, 2021
In accordance with new guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health, masks/face coverings are necessary when 6’ of social distancing cannot be maintained in low-risk activities like bass fishing.
This new direction from IDPH will allow coaches, captains, and anglers from wearing masks/face coverings when fishing as long as there is 6’ of distance between individuals. However, in situations where a coach or another angler is helping, for example, an angler net a fish, individuals will need to be put their masks/face coverings up until they can re-establish social distance from each other. When launching, ‘driving’ to a location to fish, and returning, it’s expected everyone on a boat will be wearing masks/face coverings, as well as anytime on land when social distancing can’t be maintained. In fact, our office would suggest that anytime anyone is in doubt about whether a mask/face covering should be worn, just mask up!
Our office is in the process of updating all relevant documents and COVID-19 guidance so be on the lookout for those updates over the next few days. The IHSA Bass Fishing page and the COVID-19 resource page will remain the best places to find the most current, up-to-date information.
