Thirty boys and girls soccer players from Illinois were honored and surprised for enhancing the lives of others through community service on September 24 at Triton College in River Grove.

The student athletes from Glenbard East, Oswego, Lincoln-Way West, Bulls Prep, Washington, Huntley, Saint Patrick, Richards and Back of the Yards received tickets to the Nov. 26 Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat game. Three Chicago-area charities - LUNGevity, St. Coletta's and Animal House Shelter - also were recognized and received donation checks thanks to the efforts of the high school soccer programs at Herscher, St. Edward, Saint Viator and Huntley.

This surprise presentation was a part of the “Making A Difference On AND Off The Field” campaign presented by Buddy’s HELPERS and the PepsiCo Showdown. Buddy’s HELPERS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit uniting high school student athletes and teachers/coaches in an annual community service campaign built around “Making A Difference On AND Off The Field.”
