Fenwick High School lost a legendary alum, and one of just two Hesiman Trophy winners to play high school football in Illinois, Johnny Lattner on February 12, 2016, at the age of 83.
Lattner graduated from Fenwick in 1950 and went on to play at the University of Notre Dame, where he won the Heisman in 1953. An injury suffered in the Air Force cut his professional career with the Pittsburgh Steelers to just a single season, in which he earned Pro Bowl honors. Lattner remained active in the Fenwick and Chicagoland community throughout his life. All photos are courtesy of Fenwick High School, including the shots below from Lattner's senior yearbook.
