Ryan Folliard’s Walkoff Hit Wins State Title For Lemont High School

In the IHSA Class 3A Baseball State Championship game on Saturday, June 14, 2014, Lemont High School’s Ryan Folliard got the opportunity that every baseball player dreams about growing up.

Trailing Sacred Heart-Griffin 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Folliard came to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs. With the count at 2-1, the senior centerfield lined a pitch into short centerfield to immediately plate the tying run in pinch runner Charlie Wright. Jamie Glista was on the move at second base upon contact and Glista slid into home well ahead of the tag, clinching the state championship victory and sending the entire Lemont dugout to celebrate with (and on top of) Folliard.
