Prospect Wins IHSA Class 3A/4A Student Section Showdown

Prospect High School (Mt. Prospect) was named the inaugural winner of the IHSA Class 3A/4A Student Section Showdown on Saturday, March 21, 2015.

Representatives from each of the four Class 3A/4A finalistsMorton (Berwyn/Cicero), Normal Community, Ottawa Township & Prospect (pictured above) – were on hand at the IHSA Class 3A Boys Basketball State Championship game at the Peoria Civic Center’s Carver Arena, where the winner was revealed between quarters.

“This was a great culmination to the inaugural year of this program and we appreciate all the schools who participated,” said IHSA Assistant Executive Director Beth Sauser. “Kudos to our Student Advisory Committee for implementing a fun way to showoff great sportsmanship and school spirit, while getting student sections even more involved in representing their schools.”

The Student Section Showdown entries were judged by the IHSA Student Advisory Committee, who graded each submission based on categories that include sportsmanship, spirit, student body participation, and the originality of cheers.

Representing Prospect (right) on Saturday were students Kyle Beyak, Alex Blethen, Beth Clifford, Kyle Formanski, Eryk Krzyzak, Katie Olson and teacher/coach Jon Kaminsky.

Central A&M High School (Moweaqua) was named the Class 1A/2A winner during the Class 1A Boys Basketball title game on March 14.
