Okawville Repeats as IHSA Class 1A/2A Student Section Showdown Champs

Okawville High School was named the winner of the fourth annual IHSA Class 1A/2A Student Section Showdown on Saturday, March 10, 2018, giving the Rockets their second straight title in the contest.

Representatives from each of the Class 1A/2A finalists: Okawville and Elmwood – were on hand at the IHSA Class 1A Boys Basketball State Finals at the Peoria Civic Center’s Carver Arena, where the winner was revealed at halftime of the Class 1A Championship game.

The Student Section Showdown entries were judged by the IHSA Student Advisory Committee, who graded each submission based on categories that include sportsmanship, spirit, student body participation, and the originality of cheers.

The O-Zone had the unique opportunity of having its team playing in the Class 1A title for the second straight year. This time the Rockets prevailed, doubling up on their titles:
