Fenton's Nickolas Benn Named Chicago Bears Community High School All-Star Award Winner

The Chicago Bears announced that senior quarterback/safety Nickolas Benn of Fenton High School in Bensenville has been named the third Community High School All-Star award winner of the season. The Community High School All-Star award recognizes high school football players making a positive impact in their community and school throughout the season.

Benn, who won the football team's 2020-21 Burlsworth Character Award honoring individuals who exhibit high character and sportsmanship, also plays for Fenton's baseball program. His involvement in the community has included volunteering at the Fenton High School Food Pantry, Tioga Elementary School Food Pantry, Faith Community United Church of Christ Food for Families, Feed My Starving Children, UNICEF, Shriners Hospitals for Children—Chicago and Bandits Youth Football Camp. He has helped raise money for the football program at Music in the Park and Bensenville Carnival and completed several service projects for National Honor Society. Benn also came to the defense of a special needs student being bullied at the local swimming pool and continued ensuring his safety and security throughout the ensuing school year. He has received a number of distinctions from Fenton HS, including National Honor Society, Fenton Scholars, Fenton High School High Honor Roll, Fenton Bison Link Crew (mentoring freshman as they transition into high school), Illinois High School Coaches Association Academic All-State, Upstate Eight Academic All-Conference, Upstate Eight All-Conference Player and Northwest Herald 2nd Team All-Area Football Player. Benn is directing the $500 donation he receives for winning the award to Shriners Hospitals for Children-Chicago.
