School Classification Policy and Changes -- 2009-10

On June 15, 2009, the IHSA Board of Directors adopted tentative classification cut-offs for the 2009-10 school term based on official figures received from the Illinois State Board of Education in the Fall Housing Report of September 30, 2008.

For one-year high schools, the total student enrollment figure reported is quadrupled to generate a four-year total. For two-year high schools, the total student enrollment figure reported figure is doubled to generate a four-year figure. For three-year high schools, one-third of the total student enrolment figure is added to the total student enrollment figure reported. Schools whose enrollments have been figured on the basis of one-year, two-year, or three-year enrollments are noted respectively with a (1), (2) or (3) following the enrollment figure. For schools that enroll only boys or only girls, the reported figure is doubled. These schools are noted with a (B) or (G) following the enrollment figure. Schools with approved variances and schools with added enrollment due to variances are identified respectively with a (V) or (+) following the enrollment figure. The enrollments of non-boundaried schools are multiplied by 1.65.
