Dr. Jeanette Nuckolls was appointed to the IHSA Board in August, 2009.  She has been principal of Normal Community High School in Normal, Illinois since 2002.  She is the first female principal at the high school and the first minority administrator in the McLean County Unit 5 School district which was founded in 1948.  She arrived in the district in 1995 to serve as an associate principal at the newly opened Normal Community West High School.   Prior to returning to central Illinois, Dr. Nuckolls served as a dean of students at Naperville Central High School in Naperville, Illinois. 

Dr. Nuckolls is a native of Bloomington, Illinois.   She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, majoring in English and Secondary Education.  She received both her Master’s degree in special education and her Doctorate in educational administration from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.

During her tenure as principal, The Chicago Sun-Times named Normal Community High School as one of the "Top 50 Public High Schools in Illinois." U.S. News and World Report ranked NCHS as one of the top schools in the U.S. in its Best Schools 2008 edition.  Normal Community High School has also experienced athletic successes.  In the 2006-2007 school year, Normal Community High School had the unique experience of having the Ironmen football team and the Lady Iron softball team both win state championships.

Dr. Nuckolls serves as a board member for the McLean County United Way and serves as their chair person of the education committee.  Dr. Nuckolls was honored as a recipient of a Woman of Distinction Outstanding Leadership Award and recognized for her leadership and impact on the community through professional and volunteer achievement.

Dr. Nuckolls’ previous involvement with the IHSA is as a member of the selection committee for the All State Academic Team and an at-large member of the IHSA Legislative Commission.
