Vicky King, principal of Carbondale High School, was appointed to the IHSA Board of Directors in July 2005 to complete two years of an unexpired term.

Ms. King is a graduate of Mills Prairie High School (now part of the Fairfield High School district). She attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale on a basketball and softball scholarship, earning her bachelor of science degree in physical education in 1976. Vicky subsequently received a master's degree in 1982 and adminstrative certification in 1982, both from SIU-C.

King has worked at Carbondale High School since 1979, serving as head coach in four girls' sports: softball, golf, basketball, and tennis. She also taught physical education and driver education.

In 1994 Vicky moved into administration as the boys' and girls' athletic director. She became the prinicipal of Carbondale High School in 2004.

Ms. King has previously served the IHSA in a number of roles as a member of the Legislative Commission, the Softball Advisory Committee, the Athletic Directors Advisory Committee, and the Public-Private Task Force. She was also involved when Carbondale hosted state finals in girls' golf and speech individual events.
