The IHSA Sports Medicine Advisory met via conference call beginning at 9:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 05, 2008.  Committee members present on the call were Gregory Gaa, Dr. James Green, Dr. Richard Everett, John Wator, Phil Morrison, Senator John Davidson, Dr. Cynthia LaBella, Dr. Preston Wollin, and Dr. William Marcuzzo. Assistant Executive Director Kurt Gibson also participated in the call.

Recommendation:  The Committee recommends using Drug Free Sport as the Third Party Administrator for the IHSA’s drug testing program.

Rationale:  Although a number of qualified groups expressed interest in working with the association on its drug testing program beginning with the start of the 2008-09 school term, the committee believes that Drug Free Sport has the necessary experience with sport drug testing to best implement the drug testing plan approved by the IHSA Board of Directors in January 2008.
