IHSA Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes - 2005-06Boys/girls water polo Advisory CommitteeSeptember 20 , 2006 The IHSA Boys/Girls Water Polo Advisory Committee met in the IHSA Office in Bloomington, Illinois, on Wednesday, May 17, 2006, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Committee Members present were: Jim Antos, Chicago (Brother Rice); Dave Brost, Frankfort (Lincoln-Way East); Tom Musch, Aurora (Waubonsie Valley); Jim Pardun, Vernon Hills. Assistant Executive Director Beth Sauser was also in attendance TERMS AND CONDITIONS RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Item VIII. Balls: (boys and girls) Recommendation: Each Sectional site will receive three (3) balls to be used in the games at that site. Rationale: This would allow each goal judge to have a game ball ready so there is not interruption in the game when a ball travels out of bounds. Approved Items of General Discussion and Administrative Recommendations: 1. The committee reviewed the water polo manual as well as the sectional winners packet and recommended their continued use with appropriate up-dates made by the IHSA staff for the 2007 Boys and Girls seasons. 2. The committee suggested that coaches are reminded at the rule interpretation meetings and at the sectional seed meeting to keep the following individual player statistics for end of year needs: number of games played, shots taken, goals scored, assists and for goalies goals allowed. Another point of emphasis will be to remind schools and coaches to send their information (stats/pictures/cut-lines) into the IHSA by the published due dates. 3. The committee discussed the State Final tournament program with regards the appropriateness of the team photo. The committee suggests that teams wear the team warm ups or a team t-shirt and shorts for the picture. 4. Players are not allowed to tape their swimsuits to their body. 5. The committee discussed the 30 game season limitation by-law. For regular season tournaments, the committee has requested that all host schools post the total number of games a team will play in that tournament. This would guarantee that a team would not be over the 30 game maximum during the season. 6. The committee discussed potential sites with all deep pools for sectional competition. 7. The committee discussed the date of the seed meeting. 8. The committee discussed the need for more officials and the need for schools to continue to send in their top 15 list as well as their ratings to the IHSA. 9. Next Meeting: Wednesday, May 23, 2007 10. The committee thanked Dave Brost, Rick Marsh and Jim Pardun for their service.
