Additional supplemental materials will be developed in conjunction with the educational pieces that schools can use as they see fit. Items of Discussion1. The committee reviewed the Make the Right Choice DVD that was sent to each IHSA member school last month. The committee discussed at length the issue of steroid use by high school students in Illinois. The committee recognizes that the problem is a large one that needs to be approached from a number of perspectives. Through some educational outreach, the committee hopes to raise awareness of the issue and to get the necessary resources to schools, athletes, and parents so that students can “make the right choice.” 2. The committee reviewed IHSA Policy 23 and agreed to
examine the need for up-dating the policy at future meetings this
year. The committee
discussed means by which the association could develop additions to
the policy that would strengthen the commitment between schools and
their student-athletes in regards to steroids and the association.
