1926 Chicago (Harrison) defeats Chicago (Tilden) in the first known interscholastic wrestling meet in Illinois.
1937 IHSA sponsors first state wrestling meet in the West Great Hall of Memorial Stadium at the University of Illinois.
1944 Meet canceled due to lack of entries.
1967 Individual wrestling tournament moves to its present home, Assembly Hall at the University of Illinois.
1974 State wrestling meet split into two classes.
1984 IHSA sponsors the first dual meet tournaments, held at Assembly Hall the week after the individual tournaments.
1989 Class A dual meet state final expanded from four to eight teams.
1995 Class AA dual meet state final tournament postponed and later canceled after advancing school was found in violation of IHSA sport season by-law.
1997 Dual meet tournaments move to Huff Hall on the campus of the University of Illinois.
2009 State wrestling meet split into three classes; dual team tournaments move to U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.
