1894 First known boys tennis tournament involving Illinois high schools held in Chicago.
1912 University of Illinois sponsors first statewide tennis tournament.
1916 State tournament cancelled on account of wet grounds.
1917-18 State tournament not held during World War I.
1925 Final doubles match postponed on account of rain and played later at Chicago.
1929 State tournament cancelled on account of wet grounds.
1930 To pare down the number of competitors, IHSAA introduces district qualifying meet; final singles match postponed on account of rain and played later at Elmhurst.
1944 Final singles match postponed on account of rain and played later at Northwestern University.
1936 Team trophies awarded for first time, with Winnetka (New Trier) and Rock Island (H.S.) sharing the state title.
1973 State final tournament moved to District 200 courts in Arlington Heights.
