Winning Coach, George Sherman, Palatine (H.S.) -- "It's the first time I've been down here, and the first time the team's made it. I feel that on the business end, it outscored everything else. It was a clean game with few errors and all-a
round performance by everyone. Eight of the players played together for the past six years, so this has made the team very consistent."
Vesna Grbavac: "We practiced long and hard for this. Our goal was to go downstate. We definitely earned it and deserve it. We came out and played together. We had nothing to lose and I feel that we have what it takes to compete with larg
er teams like Downers Grove."
Losing Coach, Sherry Diamond, Rockton (Hononegah): "It was unfortunate that they weren't able to play their brand of volleyball, that they let Palatine dictate the game. It might have something to do with "first-time-at-state" jitters, but
I don't want to use that as an excuse."
Abby Jenkins: "We didn't think we would be nervous at first, but then coming out here and seeing the stands packed and a huge stadium, and getting into an early hole, we started to play tenatively."
Cheryl Theis: "We never gave up until the last point was scored. Even with the score 15-6 (in the first
