 Notes & Quotes
Quotes from Quarterfinal Game #4

Fenwick coach David Power:

"Kelly (Ostler) fell behind hitter a lot early tonight. She was behind the home run hitter when the girl hit it over the fence."

"We were pressing too hard early, trying to get a run. Our base running the first three or four innings was nerve-wracking. I think we were very tense. This is our first time here, and we felt that pressure."

"I was pleased with out hitting tonight. We could have had more runs but our base-hitting hurt us."

"My big concern is Ashley (Ballard). We came here with two pitchers and now we might only have one."

Fenwick pitcher-outfielder Ashley Ballard:'
"I've come in (in relief) against Mother McAuley. But it's been a long time. I didn't expect it tonight."

(On her leg injury): "I kind of did the splits (catching a line drive one inning earlier) and pulled my hamstring a little."

"I knew we would score. We had runners on base in every inning, so I wasn't worried (after Fenwick trailed 1-0)."

"We have a tough job ahead of us but if we play like we have we have a chance to take home the first-place trophy."

Stevenson coach Larry Friedrichs:

(If Sami Sutker's home run woke up Fenwick): "They were hitting the ball well before that. We did something we can't afford to do and that's make a couple of mental errors. That allowed a couple runs to become bigger than they needed to be. Give them credit. They're a solid team."

"This team (Stevenson) has a lot of character. We'll miss our seniors, but there's a lot of spunk in the rest of the group. We've got a number of hard workers at home, so it's a great group to build on."

"I though we made some plays tonight we haven't made all season. The kids are becoming a real thinking group. You can't play a team like this and sit back and not make plays. We went out there to try to attack the ball. Toward the end, we got a little anxius. She (Ostler) threw some nice change-ups and got us getting even more anxious."
