Winning Coach Rob Gliemi, Lincoln-Way:
"We are as happy as can be. Not many people believed we could get back here after losing so many seniors last year. These seniors believed it and it all started last December in the weight room. We were once again a senior oriented team and it is very hard to win without seniors."
"Cory (Paus) really gives us a lift when he is on the field. Playing him on defense is a chance you take (that he could get injured) but we felt that at crunch time we need him on the field. "
"We felt that in the first half we had the momentum all the way. With their style of play, running the ball, it is important to jump on them early. Getting that early field goal was huge because we struggled with our kicking game this year and it was nice to get something out of that opening drive."
"Addison Trail is a physical well coached team. In the first half everything went our way. Addison is as good as any of the teams we played in the playoffs. We kept reading that they were a cinderella team but after watching film of them we just felt that they were a good football team."
Losing Coach Paul Parpet, Addison Trail:
"We really had a tough time handling the impact plays today. We were able to stop their run but the other phases of their game really hurt us. Cory (Paus) hits a pass in stride and our defensive back gets beaten, we get the punt blocked for a TD, and then we are in a big hole. They are a very talented team and difficult to defend."
"At the half we told the kids 'you play the game not the score.' They competed until the final horn and you can't ask for anything more. The true character of a person is when things don't go your way and how you react to it. I was very proud of our work ethic."
"This is one hec of an experience and I just wish that every coach and athlete could experience it. I was at Evanston (1983 6A Championship game vs East St.Louis) and this was ten times better. This is a big time atmosphere and every thing here is run smoothly and professionally."
