Winning coach Bennie Lewis, East St. Louis (Sr.)
``This is the first time we've put a full game together. We haven't had a full game all season where we played the first half as well as we played the second half. This game the guys really played the press hard and got quite a few steals and the baskets were falling for us. Everything just fell into place for us today."
(Darius Miles) ``We're looking forward to a rematch with Aurora West. I guess like the papers say, we're gonna lose, just like they did against New Trier. We weren't supposed to beat New Trier, but now we have."
``We always play one hundred percent. Last year they said we ran out of gas when we lost but that wasn't the case. We always practice a full forty minutes so coach knows we are always in shape and ready to play. During this game I thought a little bit about last year, but we just kept playing to get the win."
``We don't care when we play, just as long as we get a chance to play. Its nice to be the first game so that now we've got it taken care of. But, if we had to play the last game today, we'd had been here ready to play."

``I'd like to congratulate East St. Louis on a great game. Darius Miles, he's a great player. A great offensive player and a great defensive player. His long arms effect everything you do offensively and defensively."
``We didn't perceive the press giving us as much problems as it did in the first half. I think it had to do a little bit with us getting too tentative. We didn't play great at the start and it was like a snowball effect and we just got tentative. And then once you miss a couple of shots it makes you think twice about taking the ball hard at them."
``Our game plan wasn't to allow Miles to score twenty-six points. We had a couple of different thoughts about how we were going to guard him. We didn't execute it as well as we could have. Todd Townsend did a nice job trying to play him one-on-one. We wanted to double team him but then #10 (Edward White) steps up and makes a couple of three's early… we were not going to guard him. And then we were on our heals. We're usually a much better shooting team than we showed today."
