 Notes & Quotes
Winning coach: Mark Foulkes, St. Charles (East) ``I thought we played an outstanding game against the best team we saw all year. We picked each other up, and J.R (Carbonell) had his good stuff on the mound. He was a stud. That was the best game I've ever seen a high school kid pitch.''

``We didn't run bases particularly well tonight and we didn't sacrifice well either. We need to better than that against JCA.''

``This win is a big confidence boost. We beat a quality team, and we know we have to bring our A game against JCA tomorrow (Saturday).''

Losing coach: Tim Funkhouser, Edwardsville (H.S.) ``I thought Carbonell was terrific. He's tough on a regular day, but under the lights he was really special. He located his pitches; he was tough to face because he was hitting his corners all night.''

``It was an outstanding year for us. We faced a lot of adversity but our guys bonded together and there work effort got better and better.''
