This third place finish is a great accomplishment on their part. Our pitchers keep us in every game, and that's why we were able to win so many."

Losing coach: George Ushela, LaGrange (Lyons) - ``I was pleased with our seventh inning come- back and what we did in the eighth. It's been a long season but these kids have played well and have stuck together through it all.''

``I felt bad for Tim (Brewer) for what he's been through. The guys wanted to win this for him but it wasn't meant to be. (Brewer suffered a possible rebreak of his collarbone in the bottom of the fifth inning.) It's a crazy game, a game of inches.''

``We hit some shots, Tom Michelini smoked a ball to the second baseman but the ball doesn't go through and they turn the double play.''

``This is a solid group. The seniors have worked hard and set winning the state championship as a goal. We came close and we've come a long way this season.''

Team captain Jim Keating - ``It was good to get here. The seniors kind of expected we'd be here and we're disappointed to lose two games in one day. But it has been a great experience.''
