 Notes & Quotes
NOTES AND QUOTES

Winning coach, Jared Voss, Joliet (Catholic Academy): "Matt (Kociuba) did a greeat job coming in to pitch, it was outstanding to come in and strike out the side. Amazing."

"Chris (williams) has been our most consistant hitter all season, and he really put the bat on the ball today. He hit it a little farther than they were playing."

"All year we haven't had an All-State hitter, but anybody in our order can strike at any time, one to nine."

"We knew (Brad Moran) wasn't going ot strike us out, even if we fell behind in the count we were fine."

Losing coach, John Weimer, Mahomet-Seymour: "I'm really proud of my kids. A lot of people didn't think we'd get down here. To make the Elite 8 is a very, very fine accomplishment."

"We played a very good baseball team in Joliet. They hit the ball really well. They had 13 hits off of us. In the sectional semifinals Brad Moran two-hit Springfield and they were a fine baseball team. They had won 31 games. Joliet was just better today at the plate and we struggled a little bit on the mound but the kids competed."

"That's the thing about this group of kids they don't quit. They have done that all year long. In several close games this year we've won them. Everytime we'd come back on them Joliet would come back and score a couple of runs, just enough to keep us at a distance. We just couldn't overcome that."

On Moran's pitching: "He started laboring a little and we knew we had Joe (Curnette) in the dugout. In a game like this you can't save it for tomorrow beceause there might not be a tomorrow."
