Winning coach, Kirby Smith of Barrington: " Dan Pohlman got us off to a good start with his homer and had a no-hitter going for 5 innings. It gave me a chance to play other kids. In reflecting on the season, I realize that at this level you just can't make mistakes. Those kinds of things change the game around and even end your season.'' Losing coach, Leroy Franklin of Simeon: "We didn't play well in this game. The kids were down from losing in the semifinals and we couldn't get it back. We had our sights set on winning the state championship but instead we'll take home the fourth place trophy.'' ''This group of kids has played hard all season and have done everything we've asked of them. We are a young team so we still have the chance to make it back here again. I'm very proud of these young men.'' |
