IHSA AnnouncementsDecember 15, 2008 frankfort (lincoln-way east to hosT 2009 boys gymnastics State FinalSThe Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Board of Directors accepted a recommendation at their regularly scheduled meeting on December 15 to award the hosting duties for the 2009 IHSA Boys Gymnastics State Final to Frankfort (Lincoln-Way East). “Lincoln-Way East has a tremendous facility and we are confident that they will continue to meet the high expectations set by their predecessors,” said IHSA Assistant Executive Director Kurt Gibson. “The athletic department at the school is a professional group and has shown the ability to host an event of this caliber under the leadership of Athletic Director David Brost.” The state final will be the first-ever hosted at the school, which opened in 2001. Frankfort (Lincoln-Way East) takes the torch from Barrington (H.S.), who has hosted the event since 2003.
OTHER ACTION ITEMS 1. The Board approved a recommendation from the Executive Director to add the Coaching Minor program at Loras College to the list of approved coaching curriculums. 2. DISCUSSION ITEMS At each meeting of the Board of Directors, there are certain items the Board discusses, but upon which no action is taken. The following is a report of those items from the December 15, 2008, agenda: 1. The Executive Director presented an update on the number of schools currently participating in boys and girls lacrosse. 2. The Executive Director presented an update on the IHSA Ball Adoption Program. 3. The Executive Director presented the Board with feedback and attendance figures from the fall Town Meetings/Principals Rules Meetings and Athletic Director Division Meetings. 4. The Executive Director reported on the action taken by the Legislative Commission on this year’s membership proposals. 5. The Executive Director reported that Chicago (Luther South) Principal Anthony Rainey is not eligible to serve on the Board of Directors until Chicago (Luther South) regains Recognition status from the ISBE.
