Advancement (Individuals)

Regional to Sectional: First, second and third place winners from each weight class advance in all classes.

Sectional to State Final

Classes 1A and 2A: First, second, and third place finishers from each weight class advance.
Class 3A: First, second, third and fourth place finishers from each weight class in each sectional.

Advancement (Teams)

The team scoring the most points at the Individual Regional will advance to the Team Sectional at sites determined by the IHSA. Four (4) teams will compete in each of four Sectionals in each class. There will be no sectional champion. Eight (8) teams shall compete in each of the three (3) classes. A random draw determines the sectional pairings and the State Final pairings.

Dual Team Tournament

1) Sectional Dual Team semifinals will begin no later than 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Only the semifinals will be wrestled. Two teams from each Sectional qualify for the State Finals.
2) Following is the time schedule for the State Final Dual Meet tournament on February 28, 2009:

7:00 a.m. -- Class Weigh-in
9:00 a.m. –- Upper Bracket Quarterfinals in 1A, 2A, and 3A
11:00 a.m. -– Lower Bracket Quarterfinals in 1A, 2A and 3A
2:00 p.m. -- Semi-Final Matches in 1A, 2A and 3A
6:00 p.m. -- Consolation and Championship Matches in 1A, 2A and 3A

State Final Tickets

Individual Tournament
Individual Season: $32.00 or $40.00. Reserved tickets will be sold in advance by mail or at the gate during the first day of the tournament.
Individual Single-session: $8.00 child or $10.00 child; $8.00 or $10.00 high school student; $8.00 or $10.00 adult (will be sold only during the State Final Tournament).

Dual Team
Team Quarterfinal and Semifinal Session: $7.00 child, $7.00 high school student, $7.00 adult (will be sold only during the State Final Tournament).
Team State Final-Final Session: $7.00 child, $7.00 high school student; $7.00 adult (will be sold only during the State Final Tournament).

Scoring (Team)

Regionals: Classes 1A, 2A and 3A award in each weight class 14 points for first place, 10 points for second, 7 points for third place, and 4 points for fourth place.
Regional Bout Points (for team scoring): Also, award following points depending upon outcome of individual matches:
Fall = 2 pts.; Default = 2 pts.; Forfeit = 2 pts., Disqualification = 2 pts. Championship Bracket Win = 2 pts. (except in 1st place matches)
Consolation Bracket Win @ Regionals = 1 pt. (except in 3rd place matches)
Major Decision (margin of at least 8 but fewer than 14 points) = 1 pt.
Technical Fall (margin of 15 pts.) = 1 1/2 pts
