| 1973 | IHSA Board votes to allow girls to participate in interscholastic volleyball contests. |
| 1975 | First girls volleyball tournament held at Lantz Gymnasium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. |
| 1977 | First two-class tournament played. |
| 1990 | Tournament moves to Redbird Arena on the campus of Illinois State University. |
