WINNING COACH KATHY WULLER FROM BELLEVILLE (ALTHOFF)
Coach Wuller said, “We had the ability to rally back tonight, and this team has been amazing all season. No one expected us to be here, but the team exceeded my expectations. We are a young team, but we played great. It was a nice feeling to go out on a positive note by claiming third place. I think that we are proving to people that here is great volleyball in other parts of the state. We are finally getting the respect that we deserve. It is good for our town to have multiple schools representing them at the state tournament.”
Jessica Dalke said, “We lost game one because of mental mistakes. We missed serves at crucial times. We have been in this situation before and I think losing got us fired up. We knew we were not letting them take it from us.”
LOSING COACH JAIME WALTON FROM ELGIN (ST. EDWARD)
Coach Walton said, “We had to momentum after game 1 and we came out strong, but just couldn’t finish. I wish we could have ended the game the way we started. I think this will be the start of a nice tradition for our program. Next season will be very exciting with a lot of the girls returning. There will be a lot to come in the future for St. Ed’s.”
Christine Peterson said, “It was a great experienced to be down here playing for the state title. It has been a dream for the seniors since we were freshmen. We all played great and this was a good way to end our season.”
