Winning Coach Jennie Kull, St. Charles (East), “At the beginning of the season, we talked about it and it was a dream. Now it is a reality. It was a tough game, but we came through in the clutch. We didn’t execute the way we usually do, but we came through when it counted. They were a very good blocking team. Sandburg is a great team, and we had to be a great team to beat them. I don’t think I took a breathe the entire match, but I’m breathing now. I knew the girls would rise to the occasion and pull out the win.”
#11 Dani Nyhenhuis (Sr.), “At first I wasn’t expecting them to block as well as they did. I was just trying to aim for the holes, when I could, and adjust my hitting.”
#21 Sarah Vitali (Sr.), “We wanted this so bad and it was nice to be able to end my career like this. I love all of these girls.”
Losing Coach Joann Holverson, Orland Park (Sandburg), “I didn’t think it was the strongest match that we ever played. St. Charles is an outstanding team. Their passing and defense helped them pull out the match. We weren’t that concerned after losing the first game, we have been in that situation many times before. I was extremely proud of the way the girls played tonight.”
