Winning coach, Peg Kopec of Wheaton (St. Francis), said, "I'm really happy for the kids, they've worked hard. This team just has a wonderful form and they're awesome -- and they are a special team."
Lindsey Cotter, St. Francis, said, "We set this goal at the beginning to win state -- with that set in mind, it is such an honor to receive first place."
Katie Virtue, St. Francis, said, "Every day practice and everytime we were together, we worked on it. We knew they were going to be tough -- we just had to run up and do it."
Jaime Celebron, St. Francis, said, "It wasn't relatively easy -- we were just very prepared. We stuck together."
Shannon Melka, St.Francis, said "There was a concern at the beginning of the year -- they were very hard. We just had great practices and coaches."
Losing coach, Brenda McCarty of Kansas, said, "We played a good ball club, and it was hard for us to get our offense going. Coming to State, I don't think you can tell these kids anything is impossible."
Amy Nichols, of Kansas, said, "I came out nervous and it showed. Regarding the year, she couldn't ask for anything more."
