Important Steps — 2007-08

Your goal:

Get your team (or individuals) ready for participation in the IHSA state series.

You need to be familiar with:

The IHSA Schools Center (a password-protected Web site). Talk to your Athletic Director if you are unsure how to use this Web site.

Step 1

Make sure your team is entered by the deadline (Feb. 1).  You can check the "entry status" of your team in the IHSA Schools Center. Your Athletic Director is responsible for entering your team.

Step 2

Attend a rules meeting and redeem credit for attending before the deadline.  There is a list of rules meetings posted on the main menu page.  To redeem credit, you must use the IHSA Schools Center.  Look for your sport in the "Sport & Activity Tracker".  Click on the "redeem credit" link to start the process.

Step 3

Download and read the manual . There are links to the Terms & Conditions and Manual for Schools (including Forms) on the main menu page. These links become active when the manuals are posted around the entry deadline (Feb. 1). The manuals will not be mailed.

Step 4

Fill out a Season Summary Form prior to the seeding meeting and fax it to meeting manager.  This form is available in the Manual for Schools (including Forms).

Step 5

Complete the online State Final Information Form, if you qualify for the sectional tournament.  This form is available in the IHSA Schools Center.  Look for your sport in the "Sport & Activity Tracker".  Click on the "State Final Information" link and fill out all the pages.

Step 6

Download and read the State Final Qualifier Information Packet, if you qualify for the state finals.  This packet is only available in the IHSA Schools Center.  Look for your sport in the "Sport & Activity Tracker".  Click on the "State Final Qualifier Information" link.

Other Duties

You have other responsibilities as a coach.  You should also use the IHSA Schools Center to rate the officials of all varsity contests, fill out a Top 15 list of officials, and submit your annual participation survey.
